How My Friend Got Back At Telemarketer Unwanted Calls

You should have heard me, I laughed so much the whole place stopped talking and wanted to hear what was so funny. See, I was sitting a happy hour watching sports telling a friend about those obnoxious telemarketing calls I get day in and day out. He told me he loves telemarketing calls, because when he got their caller ID he would call them back and ask to speak to someone, then pretend to be interested, then hand them a trap, one they would never forget, and a little trick that might even cost them some of their hearing for the day.

Here is what he told me. He said he went to the sporting goods store and bought one of those wall outlets to charge the fog horns, the super loud kind. Then put him at his desk, call the number, call a supervisor from the telemarketing company, then explain that he wanted them to “listen carefully” to what he was about to say. Once they confirmed they were listening, he put his buzzer on the phone and put on his own earplugs and let it rip.

He too told me that often the same caller ID comes in multiple times and he calls back disguising his voice every day and does the same thing – a loud honk! “Finally, guess what?” he said, “They blocked my calls!” And, he explained, “fair is fair, they started it, they wanted to play games, well two can play the heinous game of phone calls!”

Went to the store to get me an air horn but opted for a VERY LOUD whistle instead, tried it today, “Hoorah” it was so much fun, I put the whistle to the phone and I blew as hard as I could straight into the phone. It worked, they hung up, but I sincerely hope they call back, I can’t wait for the second round. Incidentally, I saw a used “Train Horn” on Craigslist, yes, I’m tempted to go buy it, if those telemarketers keep going.

How can I justify my position on this question? Simple, horns and whistles are a form of communication; a warning if you will. Well, I’m just letting them know I’m on the DO NOT CALL LIST, since they obviously don’t understand English. Please consider this and tell me about your strategy for overcoming harassing telemarketers?
