-The first former USFL player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame was quarterback Jim Kelly who played with the Houston Gamblers before playing for the Buffalo Bills and taking them to four consecutive Super Bowls.
-The first player ever drafted out of college by the USFL was Dan Marino who was chosen with the first overall pick by the Los Angeles Express. He was also drafted by and opted to sign with the Miami Dolphins of the NFL the same year.
